Comprising two experienced solicitor members of the Children Panel, an experienced Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and an assistant solicitor who has done her training with us, the family law team is able to represent its clients across a broad spectrum of family issues. These include shared or full residence and contact (previously known as custody and access, or visitation) care proceedings, where the local authority’s Social Services is involved and divorce itself. We deal with financial disputes, whether arising within marriage (ancillary relief in divorce under the Matrimonial Causes Act) or between cohabitants, where we can advise on the use of the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act (TOLATA). We can also represent our clients in cases under the Inheritance (Provision of Family and Dependants) Act, in applications for injunctions under the Family Law Act and matters of Adoption and Special Guardianship or even Pre-and-Post Nuptual agreements. We deal closely with Mediation services and will be happy to tell you if we can help on any family matter not mentioned so far, and if we cannot, we will try to suggest someone else who may be able to help.
We still do legal aid (otherwise known as public funding), and will tell you if you are likely to quality for it. If you are not eligible, we will discuss with you a payment plan for our services and give you an estimate of our charges. In some cases we will be able
to give you a fixed price quote. We will either assess you at your initial interview or if you would prefer, tell you in advance if you will be paying on a private paying basis or where you will be eligible for public funding.
We have served generations of local people and hope we can help you, too given that we pride ourselves on giving a modern service but with traditional values.
